Motor Vehicle Hits WalMart

On Monday January 30th 2012 at 1341hrs, the Midland Police Service received a call to attend the Wal- Mart store on Highway 12, for a report that a vehicle had struck the side of the building. Upon arrival officers determined that a motor vehicle had lost control and struck the side of the building in the area of the Pharmacy.

Motor Vehicle Collision: Citizens Rescue Driver

On the 27th of January 2012 at approximately 0645 a motor vehicle collision occurred in the parking lot of the King’s Inn on King St. in Midland. After colliding with a fence, a vehicle driven by a lone occupant became stuck on a snow bank. The vehicle tires continued to spin eventually causing the vehicle to catch fire.

911 Pocket Dials A Nuisance

Midland Police Service is joining voices with countless other police services asking for your assistance in reducing an ever-increasing number of nuisance 911 calls placed by cellphones stored in pockets, purses and bags. These 911 'pocket dials' calls usually result from an object depressing a key on the cellphone's keyboard that is programmed to dial 911 in the case of emergencies.

Personal Mobility Scooters - Safety On The Roads

The Midland Police Service would like to remind the public that during inclement weather, citizens of Midland who utilize personal mobility devices may be using the roadway.

These scooters are to utilize the sidewalks where possible, but when citizens are not able to use the sidewalk, the law permits them to ride on the left side of the roadway facing traffic.

Local Student Wins Safety Patroller Award

The Midland Police will be taking two Safety Patrollers from Midland to the Annual CAA Safety Patrol Leadership Camp held in Oshawa. From July 15 to July 18 Safety Patrollers from the South Central Region will be taking part in team building exercises, as well as training for School Bus Patrollers and School Foot Patrollers. On Friday, July 18, there will be awards presented.

Propane Tank Warning

Public Safety Warning

Be on the look-out for propane gas cylinders that have a blue or greenish residue or corrosion appearance on and around the neck of the valve assembly. This discoloration could be a sign that the cylinder once contained a corrosive gas called Anhydrous Ammonia (used in the illegal and dangerous production of methamphetamine).

Snowmobile Enforcement and Safety Checks

The Midland Police Service would like to remind the public to lock the doors to their vehicles while they are left un-attended in their driveways and public places.

Locking the doors could prevent the majority of thefts as most entered vehicles are un-locked and very few are actually damaged to gain entry.
