Don't Let Your Bicycle End Up In Our Auction

It has only been a couple of weeks since our 2007 bicycle auction and our recovered lost or stolen bike rack is starting to fill up again!

There can be only a few of reasons for this.

1. People don't know their bike has been lost or stolen
2. People are not reporting the loss or theft to the police for fear that nothing can be done
3. People don't have any record of the make, model or serial number

As with any item of value, you should keep a record of the purchase or at very least, a serial number and basic description on file somewhere. Some folk opt for a computer file, others a paper record. Either is fine and helps to prove the item belongs to you.

If you don't want to keep the record yourself, you can opt to use an online service like Bike Registry Canada where, for a fee, they will keep all the pertinent information on file and allow local police to access their database whenever we find or recover a bike.

Access to this information can help us get the bike back to you, sometimes before you even know it was taken or lost.

Consider keeping a record of your valuables and report the loss or theft to us so we have some kind of cross-reference when we recover these items.

We cannot publicly endorse this company, nor do we have any affiliation with them; but recognize the usefulness of the service and support the concept.
