Impaired Driver After Failing To Stop for Stop Sign

On the 15 December 2017 at approximately 12:30 am, Midland Police were on general patrol in the downtown area of Midland. Police observed a motor vehicle partially in the snow bank on the side of the road and subsequently observed the vehicle "blow a stop sign".

Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and further investigation revealed the driver was impaired by alcohol.
Subsequently, the male suspect was arrested and transported to the Midland Police station. The suspect registered almost twice the legal limit.

Further investigation revealed the suspect is currently before the courts for impaired related charges. The suspect is currently bound by an Undertaking with the condition to abstain from the consumption of alcohol.

The suspect has been charged accordingly and is being held pending a Bail Hearing in Barrie Provincial Courts on the 15 December 2017.
