Domestic Assault

On Saturday, January 13th, 2018, at approximately 7:30 am, Midland Police Service responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on the east side of town. Officers arrived on scene and the male suspect fled on foot prior to police arrival. The victim reports she had been grabbed by her throat and pushed against the wall.

On Thursday, January 4th, 2018, a victim attended Midland Police Service reporting an assault which had occurred in the morning hours while preparing lunch.

The victim was slapped across the face; hair was pulled and was punched multiple times. While the victim was in a bedroom, a child's baseball set was thrown which caused it to break.

On January 3, 2018 while on general patrol on the West side of the Town of Midland, an officer from the Midland Police Service, observed an ATV travelling on the roadway without any lights or a permit on the vehicle. The officer activated his emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop, but the ATV failed to stop and sped away from the officer.

Criminal Charges

The Midland Police Service have charged a 22-year-old man with assault after an argument at a Midland residence led to the suspect throwing another person to the ground. The incident occurred on the evening of the 31st December 2017. The suspect will appear in the Midland Court of Justice on the 2nd February 2018 at 930am.

Impaired Driver


Criminal Charges

The Midland Police Service have charged a 36 year old man with Impaired Driving after they responded to a vehicle stuck in the snowbank in the downtown area. Once on scene, officers determined the suspect was impaired. He was placed under arrest and brought back to Midland Police Service, where he provided samples of his breath into an approved instrument.

On Friday, December 29th, 2017, at approximately 8:00 pm, Midland Police Service responded to the area of King St., at Hwy 12, regarding a motor vehicle being driven into oncoming traffic and failing to stop at a red light.

Officers located the motor vehicle in a parking lot on Jones Rd., and spoke with a 33 year old man from Midland who was seated in his motor vehicle.

On the morning of December 28, 2017, Midland Police Service attended an east end residence in relation to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival the officers observed damage to the residence which was caused by a male occupant. Officers also observed the suspect had been drinking which was in violation of a condition of a previous probation order.

On December 9th 2017 a 25 year old Tay Twp female attended a store in downtown Midland. The suspect selected clothing from the store, a winter jacket and went into a change room. The suspect concealed some of the selected clothing under her existing clothing and removed the tags from the winter jacket.

Impaired Driver After Failing To Stop for Stop Sign

On the 15 December 2017 at approximately 12:30 am, Midland Police were on general patrol in the downtown area of Midland. Police observed a motor vehicle partially in the snow bank on the side of the road and subsequently observed the vehicle "blow a stop sign".

Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and further investigation revealed the driver was impaired by alcohol.
